Istanbul
Works on paper, Series made in Turkey in 2012/14
I like changing skies - leaden, menacing skies, veiled by clouds. It is in these moments that the nuances of the city are discovered, a palette of subtle greys that I use to create my landscapes.
I evoke a forgotten city, the nostalgia for time that passes, a veiled intimacy, hidden behind these abstract facades. Istanbul - a city of multiple reflections.
In this series, I have left aside printmaking for now and returned to painting. Acrylic paint worked lightly, playing with transparence, and with collages of recycled paper.
